An international scam, commonly referred to as an ‘insurance scam,’ has surfaced in Cagayan de Oro. A video shared by Kap Junjun Vacalares went trending on social media, depicting an incident resembling this fraudulent activity. The scam typically involves a perpetrator crossing the road amidst traffic, simulating a collision with a vehicle and feigning injury. The unsuspecting driver halts to check on the apparent “victim,” who then manipulates the situation to convince the driver to pay for non-existent hospitalization expenses. Locally, this scam is sometimes referred to as “bangga-higda.”
The incident occurred at the intersection of Kauswagan-Bulua Highway and Westbound Terminal Road (Saarenas Avenue). Watch below.
