The City Government of Malaybalay recently gave a one-time incentive of One Hundred Thousand Pesos (P100,000.00) to centenarian Marina Marquez Encabo. “Lola Maring” was born on March 16, 1922 making her 101 years old. She is the first centenarian to receive such an award from the City Government pursuant to Ordinance No. 988, series of 2021. City Mayor Jay Warren R. Pabillaran personally presented the incentive to “Lola Maring” at her residence in Purok 3, Brgy. Managok last January 10, 2024.

The allocated amount of P100,000.00 was sourced from City Hall’s Gender and Development (GAD) fund. Additionally, a Certificate of Recognition was presented to Ms. Encabo in appreciation of her exceptional achievement.

Accordingly, this is the second cash incentive received by Lola Maring. Last September 2022, she also received P100,000 cash incentive from the Department of Social Welfare and Development (DSWD) pursuant to Republic Act 10868 or the Centenarians Act of 2016. The law recognizes and pays tribute to Filipinos who achieve the remarkable milestone of reaching 100 years of age, regardless of their residence within the Philippines or abroad.
