The economy of the province of Misamis Oriental recorded a Gross Domestic Product (GDP) of PhP 157.44 billion in 2022, an increase from the PhP 144.30 billion the previous year. This exhibited an economic expansion of 9.1 percent, an acceleration from the 3.9 percent growth recorded in 2021. In addition, the accelerated growth brought a GDP level of province which exceeded the 2019 pre-pandemic level of PhP 156.99 billion.
The largest contributors to the 9.1 percent growth of the province were Wholesale and retail trade; repair of motor vehicles with a contribution of 2.5 percentage points; Transportation and Storage with 1.5 percentage point; and Construction with 1.3 percentage point.
In terms of industry performance, Accommodation and food service activities (43.4%), Transportation and storage (34.9%), and Financial and insurance activities (13.2%) recorded the fastest growths among the 16 industries.
