Markado, The Moon Devourer, directed by Kagay-anon filmmaker Joe Bacus, has earned numerous awards, including outstanding achievements in directing, editing, and visual design at the recent 30th Annual Filipino Arts and Cinema International (FACINE 30) held in San Francisco, California, USA. This festival and competition stand as the longest-running showcase of Filipino films held outside the Philippines. Congratulations!
Markado was among eight full-length films in contention for several awards and citations which were shown in different venues across San Francisco – Roxie Theater, Yerba Center for the Arts Screening Room and CAST-SF Theater.
A panel of three jury members which included the legendary critic-academic-filmmaker Julia Lesage, writer-film programmer Irene Soriano and journalist-media specialist Pavel Vondra saw all films and made their separate evaluations over a period of two months.
