The Philippine Ports Authority (PPA) has awarded the joint venture (JV) of GlobalPort Terminals, Inc. (GTI) and Globalport (GP) Ozamiz Terminal, Inc. the Port Terminal Management Contract to manage the cargo-handling and other port-related services at Opol Port including berthside operations, stevedoring service, storage management, waste and shore facility management, among others. The 15-year contract came with a proposed concession fee of P555 million, excluding taxes.

The Port of Opol was inaugurated in 2019 and serves as an alternate port for domestic tramping vessels carrying breakbulk cargoes from the western part of Misamis Oriental and Iligan City. It is 15 kilometers west of the baseport of Cagayan de Oro. The port is currently undergoing expansion as shown below.
