CRIME WATCH: Homeless American caught stealing from convenience store in Cagayan de Oro

A homeless American citizen is now detained at Cagayan de Oro City Police Station No. 3 in Agora for stealing items from a convenience store at Shell Gas Station in Lapasan. The incident was reported at around 5:28 am on November 17 when the store cashier called the Tanod Hotline for help. Two responding tanods apprehended the suspect and handed him over to the police. Further investigation revealed that the 38-year-old unnamed suspect from Wilmington, North Carolina, USA, took 3 packs of Yupi candies (P155/pack), 1 pack hotdog (P238), and 1 can of Century Tuna (P47), amounting to a total of P750.

Further info also revealed the suspect has been apprehended multiple times in the past for similar offenses. he arrived in the city in August of last year, but unfortunately, his ‘friend’ took his belongings, including his passport which caused his hardship. Police will be turning him over to the City Social Welfare and Development (CSWD) for assistance, with the possibility of facilitating his return to the US.
