An American working as a chiropractor in Cagayan de Oro City has been sentenced to life imprisonment for two counts of child prostitution, one count of child abuse and one count for qualified trafficking. The Inter-Agency Council Against Trafficking (IACAT) posted in its Facebook page that acting presiding Judge Nannette Michote Lao of Branch 19, Regional Trial Court of Misamis Oriental, has found Sebastian Alexander Altamirano, also known as “AFAM”, guilty beyond reasonable doubt for the crimes enumerated above. The decision was made last August 31, 2023.
IACAT stated that the 48-year old Altamirano, an American citizen and a resident of Los Angeles, California in the United States, was arrested after three minor children, with ages between 13 and 14 years old, were rescued from his condominium unit in Lapasan in January 2022.
Aside from the life sentence, Altamirano was also ordered to pay a fine of P2 million.
