The first drone-assisted reforestation activity in Bukidnon was recently conducted by the Department of Science and Technology (DOST-10) together with the Local Government Unit of Pangantucan, Bukidnon, the Protected Area Management Bureau – Mt. Kalatungan Range Nature Park (PAMB-MKaRNP), local IP community and partner tech startup Galansiyang, Inc.. The successful demonstration of an innovative reforestation technology using drones dispersed some 18,389 seed balls in a remote four-hectare patch in Mount Kalatungan.
Photos show the team preparing the seed dispersal activity.

Photos below show the seed balls being placed inside the drone.

The seed balls contain seeds from endemic trees such as Ulayan, Narra, Kupang and Banaba coated with soil and organic manures to support their germination and growth.

Just weeks earlier, DOST-10 and partner agencies and Galansiyang Inc. trained the local IP youth in making seed balls which will be carried by the drone.
