Construction works are expected to resume for the 10.80-kilometer CDO Eastern Interior Bypass Road following the recent groundbreaking ceremony of the 3.10-kilometer section in Barangay Cugman funded under Package 12 (Contract ID 23K00095) worth P150 Million. Major scope of works is earthworks which include excavation and embankment. The 6-lane alternate road from Gusa to Puerto aims to decongest traffic along the main National Highway and will reduce travel time and provide an alternate and more scenic route for travellers.

This new road opening will start at Galaxy Road Junction in JR Borja Extension which will then traverse through Barangays Gusa, Cugman, Tablon (at the back of Nestle factory), Agusan, and finally connect to Sayre Highway in Barangay Puerto. See route alignment below. The highlighted (GREEN) section is the Cugman section covered by this project.

The whole project has a total length of 10.80 km, with 4 proposed new bridges: Bigaan Bridge 3 (120 linear meters), Cugman Bridge 3 (210 lm), Umalag Bridge 3 (70 lm) and Agusan Bridge 3 (210 lm). Around P2.68 billion have been released for this project since its beginning.

Cagayan de Oro City 2nd District Congressman Rufus Rodriguez led the ground breaking ceremony for the said project together with City Vice Mayor Jocelyn “Bebot” Rodriguez, City Councilor Atty. James Judith, and Kag. Elsie Jandayan of Brgy. Cugman.
