The Mount Inayawan Range Natural Park (MIRNP) in Nunungan, Lanao del Norte was formally launched as the 53rd ASEAN Heritage Park (AHP) yesterday, June 28, 2023 during the 64th Araw ng Lanao del Norte – Environment Day celebration with Governor Imelda ‘Angging’ Quibranza-Dimaporo along with other key stakeholders unveiling the official landmark of the 4th AHP in the region and 10th of the country.



With the declaration, Mount Inayawan will become a protected area under the goal of the ASEAN Center for Biodiversity to protect and preserve the ecosystems and its abundant and pristine flora and fauna.


Mount Inayawan is a critical watershed area and the largest remaining rainforest in the province situated at the heart of the Municipality of Nunungan. It is also the tallest in the province covering 3,632.739 hectares and a buffer zone of 889,041 hectares. The area was officially designated as a natural park on July 30, 2007 through Proclamation No. 1344 signed by then President Gloria Macapagal-Arroyo.

Other ASEAN Heritage Parks in Northern Mindanao include Mt. Kitanglad Range Natural Park in Bukidnon (declared in 2009), Mt. Malindang Natural Park in Misamis Occidental (2011) and Mt Timpoong-Hibok-Hibok Natural Monument in Camiguin (2015).
