A group of investors from Lingayen, Pangasinan recently visited Oroquieta City and nearby towns to explore areas where they can put up a production facility for ‘bagoong/ginamos’. This was disclosed by City Mayor Lemuel Meyrick Acosta during his online program. Accordingly, Lingayen-based JB Bagoong is already exporting high quality products with the firm’s main plant in Pangasinan currently processing 50,000 kgs of bagoong/ginamos daily and the company executives are looking into areas to sustain their operation.

A critical part in the manufacturing of bagoong is a long fermentation process which takes at least 6 months and Oroquieta’s rich fishing industry could offer a solution.
