Cagayan de Oro City Mayor Rolando ‘Klarex’ Uy has ordered the creation of a technical working group (TWG) that would finalize the technical requirements and project impact assessment of both the Metro CDO Light Railway Transit (LRT) project and the Mindanao Railway Transit project whose Villanueva-to-Laguindangan town main station will be built in the city. This was confirmed by Roads and Traffic Administration (RTA) chief Engr. Nonito Oclarit.
It can be recalled that the Mindanao Railway Project Phase 3 covers the Villanueva-Cagayan de Oro-Laguindingan segment.
Meanwhile, the Light Rail Transit in the city as initially proposed covers two phases: Phase 1 – Bugo to Bulua passing thru the Butuan-Cagayan-Iligan Road; Phase 2 – Paseo del Rio Rotunda in Nazareth to Macabalan Pier passing thru A. Velez St, J. Pacana St, and Puntod.
