The BAKA from Cagayan de Oro and Iligan Safe Space from Iligan were among the 20th Ten Accomplished Youth Organizations (TAYO) recognized for their excellent contributions through innovative projects and initiatives during the awarding ceremony held last March 11 at the Far Eastern University (FEU) Auditorium in Sampaloc, Manila. Both received a P50,000 cash grant. Congratulations!

The BAKA – Bayanihan sa Agrikultura para sa Kabatan-onan, Kaumahan, ug Katubigan (BAKA) is a youth organization from Oro Youth, City Agriculture, and private individuals in Cagayan de Oro. Their Agricultural Leadership Incubation program for the Kagay-anon Youth is a year-long program that aims to capacitate the Kagay-anon Youth on the whole Value Chain approach, with workshops and activities such as Servant Leadership, Agro-Fishery Inputs, Business Planning, Marketing, Communications, and the showcasing of Agricultural Produce.

Iligan Safe Space – is a community that celebrates and embraces diversity in Mindanao. Through their Safe Space Session project, they aim to create a non-hostile environment and a safe space for LGBTQIA+ youths of different cultures and backgrounds in Iligan City through empathic listening, group dialogue, and facilitated “empowerment validations.”
