Construction of a segment of the New Balubal-Indahag Mountain Diversion Road has now reached Mapawa area in Cugman, Cagayan de Oro City. Check out the latest aerial photos courtesy of TRip ni ToniO.

As indicated in the project billboard onsite, the ongoing project is labeled as Construction of By-pass and Diversion Roads, Cagayan de Oro Diversion Road, (Jct. Balubal Sayre Highway-Pueblo de Oro, CDO Old Airport Road Diversion Road (Pueblo de Oro/Jct. CDO-Old Airport Road) Phase II, Package 13.

By the way, here’s the initial alignment of the new road opening. Most likely, there are realignments in the actual implementation. The projects starts in Balubal area then down towards Guadalupe Shrine then through the mountain area towards Camacawan area (Mountain Meadows) in Upper Gusa then connecting to Indahag passing just below Amaya View then to South Diversion Road in Taguanao. Total length is approximately 38 kilometers.

In the foreground is the plateau in Upper Gusa (near Camacawan) where the new road will connect.

Just below it is Mapawa Creek, a tributary of Bigaan River. Upstream of Mapawa Creek is the famed Mintugsok Falls.
