The Bureau of Internal Revenue (BIR) Revenue District Office No. 098 – Cagayan de Oro City recently kicked off this year’s tax campaign with the theme: “Tulong-tulong sa Pagbangon, Kapit Kamay sa Pag-ahon. Buwis na Wasto, Alay Para sa Pilipino.” The campaign is embodied in the heart-shaped logo with two persons holding hands as it encourages individuals and businesses to comply with tax laws and regulations as well as to raise awareness about tax obligations.

The activity held at the BIR Covered Court in Bulua, this city aims to raise awareness about the importance of paying taxes. It can also help individuals and businesses to understand their obligations better and take the necessary steps to fulfill them. The said campaign also aims to help build trust between taxpayers and the government which can be achieved by demonstrating that the government specifically BIR is committed to ensuring that everyone pays their fair share of taxes.

For this year, the BIR sees four (4) major areas of concern that should be focused in attaining and exceeding its tax collection goal: Improve taxpayer service; Digitalization and Automation of Processes; Transparency and Integrity; and Intensification of Enforcement Activities.
