Cagayan de Oro City Mayor Rolando “Klarex” Uy is planning to turn the alacart section of Cogon Night Market into a landmark or tourist destination. This was revealed during a meeting called by the Night Market Management Committee and attended by alacart vendors yesterday, February 21, 2023 where several conditions were raised in accordance to the plan.
Among the proposals discussed include:
- Uniform stalls or tent
- All vendors including their workers should wear uniform t-shirt
- The area shall be off limits to vehicles
- Installation of portalets
- No selling of intoxicating liquor
- Implementation of proper garbage disposal
Mayor Klarex will also be putting up a live band from city hall in the area this Saturday to provide entertainment and also to entice more customers.
Meanwhile, the alacart vendors appealed to Mayor Klarex that they start wearing of uniform on March 4.
