SM Development Corporation (SMDC) will start developing this year its 133-hectare property in Upper Puerto, Cagayan de Oro City. This was disclosed by City Mayor Rolando “Klarex” Uy during his weekly program today, February 3, 2023 which was livestreamed via City Hall’s official social media pages (City Information Office and Rolando A Uy FB pages) following the visit yesterday of SMDC executives led by Senior Assistant Vice President Carlo Alampay.

Mayor Klarex browses over some plans of the proposed development. This will be SMDC’s 2nd project in the city after Vail Residences now under construction in Uptown CDO.

During his weekly program, Mayor Klarex advised SMDC to complete their documents so City Hall can assist them and fasttrack their application which will result to additional revenues to the city and more job opportunities to the unemployed.

It can be recalled that in August 2021, the City Council Committee on Landed Estate and Subdivision chaired by Hon. Edgar Cabanlas had a virtual meeting regarding the application of SMDC for the reclassification from Agro-Industrial to Residential-Commercial of a 75-hectare property in Upper Puerto to be developed into a mixed use residential-commercial complex. Hon. Cabanlas said this development will trigger the rise and birth of a new East Uptown Cagayan de Oro, a new growth area of the city.

From the initial 75 hectares, the property has now expanded to 133 hectares.

Based on the Vicinity Map, the property is located near the Quarantine Checkpoint.

Definitely, this project is something to look forward to. Keep posted.
