Kagayanon singer-actor Mark Bautista recently opened a new diner with an overlooking view of the scenic Cagayan de Oro River. SUBIDA COMPLEX is located along South Diversion Road in Taguanao, Indahag and its HULAK CAFE serves a variety of delicious meals, pasta, all-day breakfast, coffee, iced coffee, tea and juices. It is open daily from 10:00am to 9:00pm.
GETTING THERE. From City Proper, take the Macasandig-Taguanao Road then South Diversion Road. Slow down after passing Forest Lake Memorial Park as SUBIDA will be at the right side immediately after the bend. If you’re coming from Uptown CDO, take Pelaez (Taguanao) Bridge and after passing Iglesia Ni Cristo (left side), slow down as the place is approximately 450 meters up the road on the left. See map below.

Mark is usually at the cafe whenever he’s in town but unfortunately, he just flew to Manila the day before for a scheduled show.

“Subida” is a Cebuano term derived from the Spanish word which means “rise.” In local parlance, subida is used to describe a climbing or rising access as in a road. This is the facade of Subida Complex and as clearly shown, it is situated along the ascending road.

The building was actually completed last year but cafe operations started just a couple of weeks ago.

To clarify, Subida is the name of the entire place while Hulak Cafe is the name of the diner.

You take your orders at the ground floor.

Here’s the full menu.

It’s pay as you order. They’re still on soft opening so they only accept cash payments at the moment.

There are a few small tables at the ground floor.

Life is but a dream… perhaps a poem by Lewis Carroll.

More tables are situated at the al fresco dining area at the second floor.

There’s also a bar the second floor.

Check out the scenic river view.

You can see Xavier Estates in the horizon across the river.

You can also get a glimpse of the CDO Convention Center.

Speaking of its food, it’s worth it and they have large servings good for one but if you’re on a diet, you can also share it.

The place has so far drawn avid customers.

Some simply just dropped by for a coffee break.

By the way, parking area is limited but a parking attendant helps guests park along the roadside.

So, visit SUBIDA now and who knows, you might be lucky enough to have Mark taking your orders.
