LGU Laguindingan issues clarification on Environmental Fee collection policy

In response to social media posts claiming that motorists are being charged environmental fees while merely passing through Laguindingan without visiting resorts, the municipal government clarified that passersby are not automatically required to pay the fee, which applies to visitors using covered tourist areas and facilities. However, some netizens reported that motorists passing through Barangays Mauswagan, Tubajon, and Moog were being flagged down by deputized personnel and asked to pay, with the fees reportedly refundable if they exit the municipality within 30 minutes. A note is written on the back of the receipt to monitor their time of stay. The LGU acknowledged that the policy’s implementation may cause confusion and inconvenience and apologized for any difficulties experienced.
