CRIME WATCH: CIDG seizes ₱896K worth of fake “Magic Sarap” in Cagayan de Oro raid; Chinese suspect arrested

Beware of fake “Magic Sarap” seasoning. Joint law enforcement units recently arrested a Chinese national store owner and confiscated over 160 boxes of alleged counterfeit “Magic Sarap” food seasoning products valued at ₱896,000 during an operation near the Westbound Public Market and Terminal in Bulua, Cagayan de Oro City on October 5, 2026, for violating Republic Act No. 8293 (Intellectual Property Code of the Philippines). Authorities warned that counterfeit food products like flavorings bypass quality and health standards, posing unpredictable risks to consumer safety because their ingredients and handling cannot be verified.
