DENR Region X is investigating the death of a mature Philippine Eagle found near an electrical post in Sitio Panghaon, Barangay Guinalaban, Salay, Misamis Oriental, on October 1. The eagle showed burn-like marks on its feet but no apparent external wounds, prompting authorities to consider electrocution as a possible cause of death. Its remains were secured and turned over to the Philippine Eagle Foundation on October 2 for necropsy to determine the actual cause of death. The Philippine Eagle is classified as Critically Endangered, and DENR is urging the public to promptly report sightings of injured, distressed, or deceased wildlife.
