Kagay-anon makes history as first Filipino to command Maersk Danish-flagged vessel

A proud moment for Cagayan de Oro and Filipino seafarers! Captain Mark Anthony Segovia of Cagayan de Oro City has achieved a remarkable milestone after becoming the first Filipino captain to command a Danish-registered vessel, according to Maersk Filipinas Crewing. He currently serves as Master of Tangier Maersk, a newly built container ship delivered in 2026 and sailing under the Danish flag. His achievement is a testament to the skill, dedication, and professionalism of Filipino seafarers and an inspiring story of a Kagay-anon making his mark on the global maritime stage.
