After several hours of rescue efforts, responders successfully recovered the body of Michael Aliponso, a backhoe operator who was buried under soil following a landslide at around 1:40 p.m. at a quarry site in Malaiba, Tagoloan, Misamis Oriental. The recovery operation was carried out through the joint efforts of BFP-SRF, BFP Tagoloan, and USAR, but Aliponso was unfortunately confirmed dead. Responders took extra precautions while removing the soil due to the risk of another landslide, as cracks had already been observed along portions of the hillside. His body was brought to a hospital and is expected to be transported to his hometown in Kalilangan, Bukidnon, once his family arrives.
