Police in Valencia City, Bukidnon took a 15-year-old student into custody on August 22 after allegedly posting shooting threats against local schools on Facebook using a dummy account. The minor is facing cyber-related charges, including cyber grave threats. Mayor Amie G. Galario ordered the suspension of face-to-face classes in all schools and educational institutions across the city starting August 24 until further notice. Authorities are coordinating with the City Social Welfare and Development Office for the minor’s intervention, while Vice Mayor Cecil Galario urged the public to remain calm and report any suspicious online activity.

Police traced the 15-year old who was allegedly behind the online threat using a dummy account “Ailon Berry.” Below is a screenshot of the online threat targeting Valencia City National High School (from grade 9 to senior high including teachers). Other schools mentioned include Central Mindanao University (CMU) in Maramag. Bukidnon, San Augustine Institute of Technology (SAIT), Philippine College Foundation (PCF), Batangan Integrated School, and Lumbo Integrated School, all in Valencia City.


Because of the online threat, Mayor Amie Galario issued an executive order suspending face-to-face classes in all educational institutions across the city, covering all levels, starting tomorrow, August 24, until further notice.
