Misamis Oriental tapped for $350-M Philippines-Indonesia barter trade deal

Asian Pyrochem Technologies, Inc., (APTI) a Philippine-based company involved in technology solutions, renewable energy, biofuel, construction systems, and international trade initiatives has proposed a US$350 million barter trade deal between the Philippines and Indonesia, with Misamis Oriental as one of the possible partners. During a recent courtesy visit, APTI Chairman and Chief Executive Officer Harley Luis Leaño stated that the deal may involve the export of abaca fiber worth US$50 million and iron ore worth US$300 million in exchange for Indonesian products. Governor Juliette Uy suggested that urea fertilizer be included instead of garments and textiles to help local farmers reduce costs and improve farm production. The project aims to expand the market for Misamis Oriental’s agricultural products and strengthen trade without relying on dollar-based transactions.
