Capitol University Medical Center (CUMC) in Cagayan de Oro City has become the first hospital in Northern Mindanao to successfully perform a laparoscopic prostatectomy, a major milestone in minimally invasive urologic surgery. The procedure was led by urologists Dr. Lox Andutan and Dr. Marc Vincent Trinidad, with the support of anesthesiologist Dr. Mark Yu, resident Dr. Earl Vincent Areola, scrub nurse Rolp Paguntalan, circulating nurses Elisha Cardeño, Denise Restor, and the hospital’s multidisciplinary surgical team. The achievement highlights CUMC’s commitment to advancing medical innovation, surgical excellence, and quality patient care in Mindanao.
