Good news for the growing pickleball community in Cagayan de Oro as the 1st Higalaay Open Pickleball Tournament has been named one of the special events of this year’s Higalaay Festival. This was revealed during the first coordination meeting convened by the City Tourism and Cultural Affairs Office (CTCAO) to finalize preparations for Higalaay Festival 2026.
The festival will officially launch on August 6, featuring entertainment programs, a fireworks display, and various activities that bring together residents, visitors, and returning Kagay-anons. This year’s celebration will feature seven core events, 17 accredited events, and three special events, including the much-anticipated pickleball tournament.
With pickleball rapidly growing in popularity in Cagayan de Oro, and with numerous courts already operating and more under construction, the city is well-positioned to host a major tournament.
