The Phividec Industrial Estate in Misamis Oriental has been identified as one of two possible sites for the Philippines’ first Strategic Petroleum Reserve (SPR), alongside the PNOC Industrial Park in Limay, Bataan. If approved, each facility will have the capacity to store up to 15 million barrels of fuel to help secure the country’s fuel supply during emergencies and global oil disruptions. Feasibility studies are now underway as the government, together with its partners, works to advance the project and strengthen the nation’s energy security.
