The parents of Betty and Adey, two Matigsalug graduates of Bukidnon State University (BukSU), proudly wore their tribal attire during the graduation ceremony in Malaybalay City, celebrating their community’s journey beyond challenges and stereotypes. In viral photos by Liemuel Pantuhan along with Sydney Daves Kionisala of Afterimage Story, both Adey A. Ilagan, a Bachelor of Arts in Sociology graduate, and Betty Anggolin Anggatao, a Bachelor of Science in Community Development graduate, showed that hard work, resilience, and determination can turn dreams into reality. Their story inspires indigenous youth to continue pursuing education despite obstacles.
