Amid the ongoing global oil crisis, a foreign group is considering the PHIVIDEC Industrial Estate in Misamis Oriental as a potential site for an oil refinery project. PHIVIDEC Administrator Atty. Joseph Donato Bernedo disclosed in a recent media interview that discussions are already underway with the group, which is exploring locations in the Asian region, with PHIVIDEC among the sites being evaluated.

If the plan pushes through, the site would need to be along the coast, as an oil refinery requires a port for the loading and unloading of petroleum products.
