A vice mayor from Lanao del Sur and his companion have been charged with murder and frustrated murder for allegedly shooting two women in Initao, Misamis Oriental on February 16, leaving one dead and the other injured. Police said the motive was personal and that authorities are awaiting the issuance of arrest warrants before taking the suspects into custody and formally disclosing their identities. PRO-10 Regional Director PBGen Christopher Abrahano announced the development during a press briefing at Camp Alagar in Cagayan de Oro City on Monday, March 2.
Investigators said the injured victim positively identified the politician as the alleged gunman, adding that the motive for the attack was personal. Authorities are awaiting the issuance of arrest warrants before taking the suspects into custody, and their identities will be formally disclosed once they are arrested.
