Jeric B. Maribao, whose videos showcasing his motivational and creative teaching and acts of generosity have gone viral on social media, was named a DepEd Hero for 2026. He launched a school-based feeding program in 2022 with 20 students after the pandemic, which has since expanded to feed hundreds of learners daily from Kindergarten to Grade 6 at Bag-ong Anonang Diut Elementary School in Bonifacio, Misamis Occidental. In recognition of his dedication and service to students, the Department of Education honored him as a DepEd Hero, with Secretary Sonny Angara praising his exemplary contribution to education. For Maribao, the greatest reward is seeing his students succeed.
The special recognition was held last February 24 at the DepEd TechZone Office in Makati.

With the help of social media supporters, philanthropists, and partner brands, Teacher Jeric’s program has expanded to provide school supplies, uniforms, scholarships, medicines, and even livelihood support for families. He usually wakes up as early as 1:00 a.m. to prepare meals, believing that children learn better when they are not hungry. His efforts have improved attendance, motivation, and academic performance among his students.
