A disturbing incident involving the spraying of a chemical on a motorist was captured on CCTV, raising safety concerns after a rider and his companion were splashed with a substance believed to be acid by suspects on a motorcycle while traveling along Villarin Street in Barangay Carmen, Cagayan de Oro City, at around 11:20 p.m. on Monday, February 23. The victims suffered eye irritation and burns on parts of their face and body and were immediately assisted by concerned residents and passing motorists. A video taken after the incident also showed one of the victim’s jackets hanging on a plant and still emitting smoke, indicating the corrosive nature of the chemical.
Authorities are now reviewing additional CCTV footage to identify the suspects and determine whether the incident is linked to similar cases. Police have also intensified night patrols and urged the public to remain vigilant, especially when traveling through dark or less populated areas.
