CRIME WATCH: Woman shot dead in Initao identified, police probe underway

The woman who was found dead before dawn on Monday, February 16, in Tubigan, Initao, Misamis Oriental has been identified as Jovi Reyna L. Esquillo, 31, a solo parent and businesswoman from Aplaya, Jasaan. Police said she died from a gunshot wound to the head and was found by residents in a remote grassy area, wearing a black shirt, yellow shorts, and black socks. Her companion, who was also wounded in the incident, is currently under police guard at an undisclosed hospital. Authorities have secured CCTV footage showing the victims boarding a waiting SUV along the National Highway in Aplaya, Jasaan at around 5 p.m. on Sunday, February 15, 2026, as part of the ongoing investigation.
