PROJECT WATCH: “Kauyagan” – new cultural landmark now taking shape in Baungon, Bukidnon

“KAUYAGAN,” the newest cultural landmark in Bukidnon, is steadily coming to life along the Cagayan de Oro (Cabula)–Baungon Road, near Barangays Nicdao and Liboran, in the area locally known as “Kamatayan.” Its centerpiece—a large baungon fruit held by sculpted hands—is now being installed on site. Designed by Kit Gresos and rising three stories tall, the landmark seeks to transform the area’s negative “Kamatayan” image into “Kauyagan,” a symbol of life and culture. Other features include figures of indigenous peoples, smaller baungon fruits, and rafflesia flowers at its base. A visual panel showcasing Baungon’s history will further make the landmark both a cultural and educational destination.
