A truck accident in Sitio Alubijid, Poblacion, Villanueva, Misamis Oriental, left 23 people injured, including 21 USTP-Claveria students, the truck driver, and his helper. Police reported that the students were hitching a ride home on the truck when its brakes reportedly failed. To avoid plunging into a ravine, the driver steered the truck into a sand stockpile, causing the vehicle to tip onto its side. Emergency responders brought the injured to nearby Northeastern Misamis General Hospital, where most received treatment for minor injuries, while those with fractures, including the driver, were referred to the Northern Mindanao Medical Center in Cagayan de Oro. Authorities confirmed that no injuries were life-threatening, and an investigation is underway.
