Unused monolithic-dome cold storage facility in CDO found substandard

The Department of Agriculture (DA) has identified at least 17 monolithic-dome cold storage facilities built in 2022 as substandard—including one in Cagayan de Oro located at the City Engineer’s Office compound in Kauswagan. Reports indicate that the ₱20-million structures were poorly designed and unable to properly cool fruits and vegetables. The CDO facility remains unused to this day. According to the DA, repairing these facilities may even cost more than building new ones.
