RANDOM SHOTS: Collective effort leads to safe recovery of injured serpent eagle in CDO

An injured Philippine Serpent Eagle (Spilornis holospilus) found on November 15, 2025, in Barangay Bugo, Cagayan de Oro City, is now receiving proper care after a coordinated rescue. A resident rescued the weakened bird and handed it to Barangay Bugo officials, who sought help from the CDO-USAR Team to turn the raptor over to DENR X. On November 17, DENR veterinarians treated the eagle’s eye injury and stabilized it at the Regional Wildlife Rescue Center for rehabilitation. DENR X lauded the citizen, barangay officials, and rescue teams for their swift action, highlighting the importance of community involvement in wildlife conservation, and urged the public to report injured or distressed animals.
