Cong. Rufus Rodriguez recently led the groundbreaking ceremony of two major infrastructure projects in Barangays Gusa and Cugman, Cagayan de Oro City – (1) the ₱400-million 828-meter long, 6.7-meter-wide two-way road dike structure along Bigaan River in Gusa, and (2), the ₱100-million 290-meter-long, six-lane Cugman Bridge 3 in Cugman which is part of the Eastern Interior Bypass Road Project.
The road dike project will function both as a vital flood control structure to safeguard residents along the riverbanks and as an alternate route to help ease traffic congestion at Galaxy intersection in Gusa. In addition, it will serve as a connector road linking the National Highway (Butuan-Cagayan-Iligan Road-BCIR) to the ongoing Eastern Interior Bypass Road.

Meanwhile, the latest funding for Cugman Bridge 3 (Package 20) will also include the construction of pedestrian walkways. The bridge forms part of the ongoing Eastern Interior Bypass Road Project, which is envisioned as a parallel highway to help decongest BCIR.

Also present during the groundbreaking ceremonies were City Vice Mayor Jocelyn “Bebot” Rodriguez, City Councilor Jonjon Rodriguez, DPWH 10 Assistant Regional Director Sabeniano Caliao Jr., Planning and Design Division Chief Engr. Leowald Pecore, Construction Division Chief Engr. Virgie Nayve, DPWH 2nd District Engr. Jan Paulo Lisondra, and Barangay Cugman officials and residents.
