A new 200 Million Liters per Day (MLD) Bulk Water Supply Project is being proposed for Cagayan de Oro by AB Bulk Water Company, Inc., an affiliate of A Brown Co. The project will feature major infrastructure, including a river intake in Barangay Mambuaya, transmission lines, raw and treated water pump stations, a water treatment plant, storage tanks, and stub-outs. Once operational, it aims to meet the growing water demand of Barangays Balulang, Canito-an, Carmen, and Lumbia through 2050. To discuss its scope and environmental impact, the Environmental Management Bureau has set a Public Scoping on September 18 at the Mambuaya Covered Court.

The project’s main facilities such as the river intake and water treatment plant will be built at a 27,000-square-meter (2.7-hectare) site in Brgy Mambuaya while the reservoir tanks will be at Brgy Bayanga. Additionally, support facilities like security installations, access roads, alternative power sources, administration buildings, parking area, maintenance structures, and pollution control components will be installed to enhance the project’s operational efficiency and environmental sustainability.
