CDO eyes ordinance on elevated, roofed pedestrian walkways in major commercial areas

The Cagayan de Oro City Council is studying a proposed ordinance to build elevated, roofed pedestrian walkways in key areas like CM Recto, Limketkai, Agora, Cogon, and Divisoria, and other areas as may be recommended by the City Planning and Development Office (CPDO). The plan seeks to ensure safe, all-weather access, promote tourism with cultural designs, and generate revenue through ads, kiosks, ATMs, and sponsorships via public-private partnerships.

Shown below is the rendering of the proposed Elevated Pedestrian Walkway project linking malls in Cagayan de Oro along CM Recto Avenue. As proposed, the walkway will connect Gaisano-Centrio Overpass to Limketkai-USTP Overpass with street access at Nazareno Church, Ajirang Restaurant, Red Planet Hotel / SM CDO Downtown and finally at Limketkai Gateway Tower.
