If you’ve been driving around Cagayan de Oro, you’ve probably noticed it too—some traffic lights are either not working or seem to be intentionally switched off. What’s even more frustrating is how unpredictable they are. Sometimes they function, sometimes they don’t—especially during rush hours—leaving motorists confused and traffic even worse. Frustrated drivers are now suggesting that if the city can’t keep the current system consistently working, maybe it’s time to upgrade to a modern traffic light signalization system. Take note, some Higalaay Festival activities are already underway.
We’ve counted at least forty-six (46) intersections with traffic lights installed. We’ve made some status based on personal experience:

🔴 – mostly non-functioning;
✅🔴sometimes on, sometimes off.
Interestingly, even the traffic lights that usually work fine ✅ are sometimes switched off without any explanation.

Traffic woes continue in the city as motorists now find themselves stuck in heavy congestion even outside rush hours, making daily commutes more frustrating than ever.
To make matters worse, some intersections lack assigned traffic enforcers, while undisciplined drivers only add to the chaos.
