Cagayan de Oro launches Philippines’ first AI Lab in a public school

The Philippines’ first Artificial Intelligence (AI) Laboratory in a public school was officially opened on July 30 at Dansolihon National High School in Barangay Dansolihon, Cagayan de Oro City. Part of the Relevant Industry Skills for Employment (RISE) program, the lab aims to boost students’ tech skills and education. Equipped with 51 computers and LED TVs, it will serve both regular and ALS learners. Students will be trained in data annotation, coding, digital tools, 3D modeling, drone assembly, and virtual drone flight. The project is supported by the Department of Education, Skunk Works, DOST, DTI, and TESDA.

City Mayor Rolando Uy, together with members of the 21st City Council, Nahilaran IP representatives, and department heads from city hall, attended the event.
