Cagayan de Oro’s pride, Woman FIDE Master (WFM) Ruelle Canino, will be the Philippines’ sole representative at the 2025 Women’s World Chess Cup in Batumi, Georgia, scheduled from July 5 to 29, 2025. At just 16 years old, Canino will go head-to-head with 107 of the world’s top female chess players, as she aims to earn her Woman Grandmaster (WGM) title norm in this prestigious event. The FIDE Women’s World Chess Cup also serves as a qualifier for the Women’s World Chess Championship, with top finishers advancing to the title match. Good luck!
