Cagayan de Oro’s Athena Sophia “Pia” Abbu was selected 14th overall by the Capital1 Solar Spikers in the 2025 Premier Volleyball League Rookie Draft, held Sunday, June 8, at the Novotel Hotel. The 5-foot-9 middle blocker from the University of Santo Tomas (UST) joins a lineup that includes three-time UAAP MVP Mhicaela Belen, this year’s first overall pick. Abbu is expected to add depth and energy to the team coached by Jorge Edson Souza de Brito. Interestingly, she is also set to graduate cum laude from the UST College of Tourism and Hospitality Management on June 11. Congratulations!
