Lumbia Airport in Cagayan de Oro City is now the new “Home of the Trojans” following the relocation of key Philippine Air Force units from Major Danilo Atienza Air Base (MDAAB) in Sangley Point, Cavite. Among the units transferred are the 18th Attack Squadron, 20th Attack Squadron, and the 462nd Rotary Wing Field Maintenance Squadron, all under the 15th Strike Wing. This strategic move is part of the Philippine Air Force’s Strategic Basing Plan aimed at enhancing operational readiness and national defense coverage.

A few days earlier on May 20, 2025, Lt Col. Rachel A Rapacon PAF (GSC), Group Commander of the 357th Aviation Engineer Group, rendered a courtesy call on BGen. Gerold N. Gagan, PAF, Wing Commander of the 15th Strike Wing, at the Wing Commander’s Office at Lumbia Airport, Cagayan de Oro City.

Subsequent to the courtesy call, BGen Gagan, accompanied by LtCol Rapacon, conducted a site inspection of facilities and infrastructure to personally evaluate the quality and progress of both completed and ongoing construction works.
