For the first time ever, the rare and giant Rafflesia flower has been documented blooming in Barangay Salucot, Talakag, Bukidnon. The discovery was verified by municipal officials and representatives from the Department of Environment and Natural Resources (DENR) after being reported by local farmer Junefer Bajongon. This marks the first recorded bloom of the Rafflesia species in Talakag, prompting plans to protect and conserve the site, given the flower’s ecological significance and rarity.

The site visit was led by Municipal Administrator Alberto Bigcas, along with DENR personnel Earljan Alicer and Sylvan Vincent Baldon. They were joined by SK Chairwoman Lovely Sinagon and the flower’s discoverer, local farmer Sir Junefer Bojongan.
