Northern Mindanao leads all Mindanao regions in literacy, posting the highest Basic Literacy Rate at 93.9% and the highest Functional Literacy Rate at 70.0%, according to recent data released by the Philippine Statistics Authority (PSA).
- Basic Literacy – can read and write with understanding, and can compute
- Functional Literacy – can read, write, compute, and comprehend.
