Real estate consultancy firm Colliers has highlighted Cagayan de Oro City as a key emerging destination in Mindanao, with foreign hospitality brands actively exploring expansion in the city. The firm noted that with Metro Manila currently experiencing a slow down in the property market, developers are increasingly shifting their focus to provincial areas. This insight was shared in Colliers’ Q4 2024 Property Briefing, released on February 6, 2025.

Colliers cited the significant growth in hotel occupancy rate of Cagayan de Oro with 60-70% as compared to 10-25% during the pandemic.

The partnership between AppleOne Group and Radisson Hotel Group marked a major milestone, bringing Cagayan de Oro its first 5-star hotel and internationally branded residences.

Major infrastructure projects, including the Panguil Bay Bridge and the Laguindingan Airport O&M, have boosted investor confidence, attracting international brands such as Dusit Thani, Sheraton, and Citadines.
