The MV Samal, a modern container ship sailing under the flag of Antigua and Barbuda, recently completed its maiden voyage from Nansha, China, to Cagayan de Oro City, Philippines. The ship, measuring 172 meters in length with a gross tonnage of 18,680, and carrying 291 containers, arrived at the Port of Cagayan de Oro on Sunday, January 19, 2025, at 4:45 PM and departed the next day, January 20, 2025, at 12:00 noon. MV Samal’s visit highlights Cagayan de Oro’s growing importance as a hub for international shipping.
